Morning victory
We celebrate small victories in our home. Of course, for small boys, small victories are big things! We celebrate each smile and coo and squeal. We praise each great tummy-time moment. But this morning we had a big victory.
I went in to get Emory and looked over at Dean. He was sleeping with his head turned to the left! That is an amazing victory. Dean has Torticollis on the left side of his head. We were working on it ourselves by helping him to stretch but it just didn’t seem to be enough. So I called my chiropractor. We have had 5 sessions with him and the progress is just amazing. He initiates turning his head to the left now when he is laying on his back. He has never done that, EVER. But since he started receiving chiropractic treatment he does it several times a day now. And each time he turns his head, he can turn it a little further to the left. We celebrate each time he does it by clapping and smiling and telling him how great he is doing.
Dr. Fowler says that his torticollis is physical and behavioral. Dr. Fowler works on the physical part and we work on the behavioral part, which is why we celebrate so exuberantly. This morning I didn’t celebrate with sound because he was sleeping, but my heart soared and I smiled. What we are doing to help Dean is working and that makes me feel good as a mom.
You might have noticed the effects of his torticollis in some of the pictures I post. He tends to always look to the right and up. But we are starting to get more pictures where he looks straight at the camera. He favors his right side so much that he has positional plagiocephaly on the right side. Dr. Fowler’s wife (Dr. Barb), who is also a chiropractor has been doing some cranial work on his head. We are hoping to avoid wearing a helmet. She has done two cranial adjustments on his head and I can tell a small difference. It is small, but it is there. Another small success.
Here are some pics to end this post.

yippy! and love the pictures!
What great news! It is always nice to actually be able to see the results of whatever it may be that you are doing as a mom! You are a fantastic Mommy just as i knew you would be!!
